1. Data controller
The data controller for information processed through the service is Samsad Rashid, operating Phraseq as a sole proprietor in Bangladesh (referred to in this policy as "Phraseq", "we", "us", or "our"). For any privacy matter, contact us at [email protected].
2. What we collect
Account and profile: your email address (for authentication, or the one Google/Apple provides at sign-in); profile information you provide (display name, profession, language preferences); and, if you upload one, your profile photo. Learning data: vocabulary words and sentences you add or generate, daily words, practice sentences, quiz attempts, your learning streak, and your in-app conversation transcripts.
3. What we do NOT collect
No payment information (Phraseq has no paid plan). No advertising identifiers, and no cross-app or cross-site tracking. Voice input (mobile app): Phraseq does not record, store, or upload your microphone audio — speech recognition is handled by your device's operating system speech recognizer, and Phraseq only receives the recognized text, placed in the same input field as if you had typed it. Your device model and OS version are not collected.
4. Signing in with Google or Apple
If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address and name from that provider to create your account. We never receive or store your Google/Apple password. You can revoke Phraseq's access at any time from your Google or Apple account settings.
5. How we use your data
Your data is used to: power your personal vocabulary vault, quizzes, daily words, and conversations; personalise AI-generated sentences to your profession and target language; and calculate your learning streak and mastery scores. We do not use your data to train AI models, and we do not sell it to third parties.
6. AI features
Phraseq's AI features (word generation, the Sentence Lab, daily words, quizzes, and conversations) are processed by Z.ai's GLM models, an international AI service operated by Zhipu AI, under its own terms and privacy policy, billed to and paid for by Phraseq — you do not need to provide an API key. When you use an AI feature, Phraseq sends the relevant text — the word or sentence you are working on, your profession, language and level preferences, and, for quizzes and conversations, a snippet of your saved words — from our server to the AI provider. Your microphone audio is never sent. A request is made only when you tap a generate, practice, or send action; Phraseq never runs AI features in the background. Phraseq does not store your AI prompts in its own database.
7. Data storage and security
Your account and learning data are stored in Supabase, a hosted PostgreSQL service. All network traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Database access is protected by row-level security, so an account can only read and modify its own rows. Profile photos are stored in a private storage bucket and are displayed only through short-lived signed URLs that expire after one hour.
8. On your device
The Phraseq mobile app stores app preferences on your device — theme, text size, notification toggles, voice (text-to-speech) settings, and your chosen app icon — using the platform's standard shared-preferences storage, and keeps your sign-in session on the device so you stay logged in. On the web app, sign-in uses cookies and preferences use browser local storage; there are no third-party advertising cookies.
9. Data retention and deletion
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account — from Settings, or from phraseq.com/account-deletion in any browser — your login identity, profile and profile photo, saved words and sentences, practice sentences, quiz attempts, daily words, and conversation history are permanently deleted from our systems; deletion of your storage files and database rows is verified as part of the process. Deactivating your account keeps your data until you reactivate it by signing in or delete it; deactivation does not delete data automatically.
10. Your rights
You have the right to: access all data we hold about you; export your word vault (contact us); correct inaccurate data (via Settings); and delete your account and all associated data (via Settings → Privacy & Data, or see /account-deletion). For data requests, contact [email protected].
11. Children's privacy
Phraseq is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us immediately.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
